2017-04-10: Monochrome Monday

I was so fortunate to spend time with large herds of elephants both in Amboseli, and in the Masai Mara.  This photo is from the Mara, where a large herd was passing through the conservancy.  We spent about an hour surrounded by elephants as they went about their day.

Heads up, soon I’ll be off travelling, and while I will do my best to get my regular posts scheduled in advance, I might not be so speedy with replying to comments.  As always, if you are on either Instagram or Facebook, you can catch me over there as well.  I do try to make sure the photos I post to Instagram are different from what I share on the blog, and that is where I will posting some shots from the road.  Links are always in the About Me section, but for convenience: @jensawicky and @jennifersawickyphotography.

It’s always nice to look at things from a different perspective.  I have loads of beautiful colour photos from this sunrise photo stop, and wanted to see how it felt in black and white.

2017-03-27: Monochrome Monday

For Monochrome Monday this week, I decided to share some birds in black and white.  I thought it was a nice way to emphasize the shapes amongst the environment.  Enjoy, and wishing everyone a great week ahead.

This little guy… I believe it is some type of plover, but as it is a juvenile, I can’t identify exactly which type.

2017-03-20: Monochrome Monday

Happy first day of Spring!  My goodness I am certainly happy to say that, and also very happy that it is finally starting to feel like winter has loosened its grip around here.  I’m at the point now where only 50% of my lawn is still cover in snow!

For today, I thought I would share a mixed bag of photos from my trip to East Africa.

Happy Monday all, and have a wonderful week!

2017-03-06: Monochrome Monday

After a few posts dedicated to my time with the gorillas, I thought I’d better get back to a bit of variety.  I hope you enjoy my choices for Monochrome Monday.

Have a great week everyone!

I’ve shared some photos and stories before from my time at a Mara river crossing, and thought I would share a few more images for my monochrome Monday post.  I hope you enjoy, and wishing everyone a great week.

A lone gazelle tries his luck crossing the river.  My guide explained that the gazelle typically cross in small groups or alone, as there is a huge risk of them being crushed by the larger wildebeest and zebra.  Unfortunately, crossing alone makes them prime targets for the crocodiles.

The crossing came in waves; a group surged across, struggled to get up the banks, and just as the last few wildebeest worked up the bank, the next wave would surge forward to cross.
