2017-06-19: Monochrome Monday

I wish I had an extra couple hours in each day; then I would have the free time to figure out how to extract the audio from some clips I have of this lion and his brother roaring into the night.  Our vehicle was parked between the two, and being amongst lions roaring in surround sound is a heart-stopping experience.  Even the cubs playing nearby stopped in their tracks!  But alas, video isn’t something I’ve invested time in, so you’ll just have to make due with an image instead.  But it’s a pretty nice image, if I do say so myself.

Wishing everyone a fantastic week ahead.

2017-06-16: Feel Good Friday

The skies here have been pretty dreary the last couple days, so I thought seeing a few African sunrises would perk me up.

Wishing everyone a great weekend ahead 🙂

Although seeing the river crossing was an all day adventure, the actual crossing itself happened in a flash, without any time to prepare.  (If you missed previous posts on this, you can find some of them here or here).

Once I had the best shots I could capture of the wildebeest crossing the river, I decided to try something different, slowing down the shutter speed to highlight the movement of the animals.  Nice crisp shots are all well and good, but this photo is more like the experience of being there; things happening so quickly that it is all a bit of a blur.

2017-05-19: Feel Good Friday

Last week I shared some images from my time in Ishasha, and this week, a mixed bag of images from my time in the Masai Mara region of Kenya.

Wishing you a wonderful weekend ahead!

A cheetah on a wildebeest kill.  The weather was just calming after a torrential downpour, which might account for the miserable look on this cheetah’s face.  That, or the vultures hanging around nearby.

2017-05-15: Monochrome Monday

It seems a bit strange to pre-schedule posts so far in advance.  As I type this, it is still April, and when this gets uploaded, I’ll be on my last week of holidays in Africa.  I know I will be coming home with lots of images and stories to share.

This week’s selection is another mixed bag from my time in Kenya.

I hope you enjoy, and have a wonderful week.

A wildebeest appears to be on high alert (but honestly, with wildebeest, you never quite know).
