2017-04-24: Monochrome Monday

Some elephant love for Monochrome Monday this week.  I’ve scheduled these posts in advance as I am currently away, and with any luck, spending lots of time with these magnificent creatures.

2017-04-21: Feel Good Friday

I’ve gotten these posts done ahead of time, as today I am heading back to Africa for another amazing adventure.  I am so looking forward to being out in nature, being close to elephants, and frankly, being warm (the winter has dragged on and spring has been slow to start).

I thought I would share a few of my artistic impression images, the ones that I edit to look like paintings or that end up a bit over the top.

I hope you enjoy, and have a wonderful day.

2017-04-10: Monochrome Monday

I was so fortunate to spend time with large herds of elephants both in Amboseli, and in the Masai Mara.  This photo is from the Mara, where a large herd was passing through the conservancy.  We spent about an hour surrounded by elephants as they went about their day.

Heads up, soon I’ll be off travelling, and while I will do my best to get my regular posts scheduled in advance, I might not be so speedy with replying to comments.  As always, if you are on either Instagram or Facebook, you can catch me over there as well.  I do try to make sure the photos I post to Instagram are different from what I share on the blog, and that is where I will posting some shots from the road.  Links are always in the About Me section, but for convenience: @jensawicky and @jennifersawickyphotography.

2017-03-14: WPC Wish

The prompt for the week is to show a wish, and mine is simple, but it seems at the moment, not easy at all.  I wish for all these beautiful, wild creatures to be safe, and have the opportunity to live long, natural lives without knowing the horror of poaching or human / wildlife conflict.

2017-03-06: Monochrome Monday

After a few posts dedicated to my time with the gorillas, I thought I’d better get back to a bit of variety.  I hope you enjoy my choices for Monochrome Monday.

Have a great week everyone!

2016-11-17: Feel Good Friday

I for one am very happy it’s Friday and the weekend is nearly here.  After a computer meltdown last weekend, I am back up and running and will be able to get back to my normal posting schedule.

It’s no surprise that I love elephants, and this photo was taken during my last trip to South Africa, when we stopped our vehicle in the bushes and watched the herb graze and amble along.  Always a wonderful moment 🙂

A line of elephants moving through the bush as the light starts to fade.  I could have processed this in a more HDR way to bring up the shadows, but as it is, the image feels true to how I remember the scene, with the elephants fading into the bushes.
