Deer

I saw this beauty driving home this morning.   I was amazed when it calmly stood by, my car parked no more than 6 feet away, while I snapped a few quick pictures with my phone.

Coyote

This certainly isn't a stellar photo, but I was happy to finally have my camera on hand when I saw a coyote. 1/200sec, f5.6, ISO 100

Golden Ears

Sunday morning was incredibly beautiful.  We were up bright and early, and heading off for our favourite spot at the dikes before 6.  I haven’t had much success recently when I have taken my camera along, but this past Sunday more than made up for that.  I’ve got lots of images to go through, both landscape and of birds. 🙂

As I was driving, the light was so lovely that I had to pull aside and put on my 4-way flashers while I snapped away.  Good thing it was so early and the road was deserted.

Here are a few shots from the side of the road.  More to follow in the coming days as I have time to edit and organize.

I just had to stop the car to get a few photos. The mist, the mountains and the clouds were all just perfect.

Spencer – 10 years together

Ten years ago, I drove up to Kaleden and returned home with 4 1/2 pounds of fluff and attitude.  My life forever changed.

Just a few months old, playing with his teething keys. I was very lucky he almost always chose to destroy his own things rather than mine.

He’s always been, and always will be, much more than just a dog.

Out at the dikes for a walk, one of his favourite places.

Rather than say any more, it’s time to grab the leash and head out for an early morning walk; just us and the birds, which we both prefer.

Great Blue Heron

Only two weeks ago, this fallen tree was far beyond the water line. With the warm weather, the river has risen quickly. I'll be interested to see if the water gets high enough to move this tree from where I have seen it for the last six months or so. On this morning, it was an excellent perch for a great blue heron. 1/160 sec, f13, ISO 1000
