A red winged blackbird sings his heart out. I was so glad to see this bird singing, as the song has been tormenting me from the bushes for years, and I could never figure out who was making the sound until this past weekend.

This African Hoopoe was tucked into such a shady spot of the tree, trying to do anything with the photo in colour just didn’t work. But I really like how this high contrast black and white edit has turned out.

When you’re as tall as a giraffe, there just isn’t an easy way to get a drink. It’s quite a sight to see though, and we timed passing by this giraffe just perfectly. I love the detail visible in the throat area, you just don’t see that when they are the right way up. Okavango Delta, April 2015
