There is definitely more to see in South Africa than just wild animals on safari. On some previous trips, I had the pleasure of spending time in Cape Town. On this trip, I got to do a day trip of the Panorama Route. Here are a few images showing some of the beautiful scenery in the area.

I had some good opportunities during my travels for some animal portraits. Here are the first couple that I have worked through, just in time for monochrome Monday.
Have a great week everyone!
Did you know you can find these images, and other like them, in my gallery? You can see an evolving collection of my favourite images there, and even order a print or two if you choose.

I’ve just got a single image today as I try to ease my way back into editing, posting etc. etc. after holidays.
I took along my tripod and my new infrared filter, and played around a bit during the down time in the middle of the day. This was taken from the back deck of my room at Lion Sands River Lodge. There were often nyalas grazing in the tall grass, but here, just a few trees and the river in the background.
Have a great week everyone!

During my travels it has been heartwarming to see several different rhinos cows with their calves. I did have one sighting that turned out to be quite a missed opportunity though. The Mom was busy having a drink at a watering hole, and the baby began to whine, wanting access to milk. Mom wasn’t interested at that time, and the whining from the baby got louder and more insistent. This went on for a good couple of minutes, and I didn’t even think to switch into video, and kept capturing still images instead. The only time I have heard rhinos before is on nature programs, so it was definitely a wonderful moment in the bush for me.

I’m currently traveling so posts will be brief, but I wanted to share an image from my travels so far. I did a day trip on the Panorama Route Sunday, and enjoyed seeing amazing landscapes throughout the day.
The day started out a little bit hazy, but cleared throughout the day and in the end, the weather couldn’t have been more perfect for exploring.

Just a quick post today as I am running a little short on time at the moment!
I loved watching these elephants greet each other as they all congregated around a dam. Different family groups joined up, took their time with greetings, getting refreshing drinks, and eventually, heading off in their separate ways.
It’s always a joy for me to spend time amongst elephants.

Here we are at Monday again. I felt like editing some elephant images recently, so that is what I have decided to share today. Elephants, with their amazingly textured skin, look fantastic in monochrome images (at least I think so!)
I hope you enjoy my selections. Have a great week!

A bit of leopard love on this monochrome Monday. I hope everyone has a fantastic week!

I’m keeping fingers crossed that I’ll have the opportunity to see lots of big cats while of safari next month. Here are a few images from my previous travels to start the week.
Wishing everyone a fantastic week ahead!

I’m keeping with yesterday’s Palm Springs theme, but this time, a black and white interpretation.
I hope everyone’s week has gotten off to a fantastic start!
