There is just something about the Amboseli landscape that really appeals to me for monochrome images. The starkness of many of the areas, the elephants towering over the flat, seemingly endless plains.
Here is a selection of images from this beautiful place.
I’ve gotten these posts done ahead of time, as today I am heading back to Africa for another amazing adventure. I am so looking forward to being out in nature, being close to elephants, and frankly, being warm (the winter has dragged on and spring has been slow to start).
I thought I would share a few of my artistic impression images, the ones that I edit to look like paintings or that end up a bit over the top.
I was so fortunate to spend time with large herds of elephants both in Amboseli, and in the Masai Mara. This photo is from the Mara, where a large herd was passing through the conservancy. We spent about an hour surrounded by elephants as they went about their day.
Heads up, soon I’ll be off travelling, and while I will do my best to get my regular posts scheduled in advance, I might not be so speedy with replying to comments. As always, if you are on either Instagram or Facebook, you can catch me over there as well. I do try to make sure the photos I post to Instagram are different from what I share on the blog, and that is where I will posting some shots from the road. Links are always in the About Me section, but for convenience: @jensawicky and @jennifersawickyphotography.
It’s always nice to look at things from a different perspective. I have loads of beautiful colour photos from this sunrise photo stop, and wanted to see how it felt in black and white.
Happy Friday! The work week is over and it is time to relax a bit. Wishing everyone a great weekend ahead. And try not to do too many nasty pranks tomorrow!
